Artists Talk with LVA: June 8, 2023

On June 9th Revelry Gallery opens a new photography exhibition entitled: Light & Sound: A Local Lens on Live Music, curated by local writer-filmmaker Mark Rabinowitz and featuring his work as well as that of three other local photographers who have turned their lenses on Louisville's vibrant local music scene: Will Fenwick, Tess Fulkerson, and Rylee Gordon

Mark Rabinowitz is the co-founder of seminal independent film news service indieWIRE.com and has been active in the independent film world as a journalist, producer, acquisitions executive, film festival staffer, and consultant since 1995. 

Tess Fulkerson is a 26-year-old multidisciplinary artist who is active in the Louisville, KY music and arts scene, with her main medium being photography. Her grainy, black-and-white photography style has become a staple in the local scene. She is also in a band called “qwerty” and does booking, tour managing, and music reviews for other local and non-local artists. Tess also has a computer engineering and computer science degree from the University of Louisville.

Artists Talk with LVA: June 1, 2023

LaNia Roberts has been practicing art professionally for the past 12 years, from selling paintings while being an art student in the LVA Children’s Fine Art Classes program to Syracuse University, continuing studies with mentors in Florence, Italy, and in Louisville with Stan Squirewell.

“...persistently standing firm in my practice post-grad throughout an ongoing pandemic has proven to myself how serious I am to make my uncommon dreams to become a thriving contemporary artist come true.” 

LaNia is the recipient of the 2023 Bill Fischer Award for Visual Art, granted by The Community Foundation of Louisville in partnership with Louisville Visual Art.

Artists Talk with LVA: May 25, 2023

Carrie Johns & Anil Vinayakan are both participating in this Saturday's LVA Paint Out at The Louisville Nature Center. We will talk about that and other places their work can be seen. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM/Artxfm.com each Thursday at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

Carrie Johns is a native of Georgetown Indiana who studied Fine Arts at Indiana University Southeast and Art History at the University of Louisville. On Facebook, she is Carrie Johns Art and you can see her work at Carriejohnsart.com. She recently completed an epic mural for the New Albany Opera House.

Anil Vinayakan studied at Christ College, Kerala, and is an M.D. in Louisville. He is a painter and photographer who has an upcoming exhibit Horses and Places, at Kore Gallery June 1 - 30 with an opening reception on June 3.

On May 27, come watch artists paint at The Louisville Nature Center and Joe Creason Park. Paintings will be for sale after judging at 3:00 pm. Look for us at the tennis courts parking lot.

Artists Talk with LVA: May 18, 2023

Jamarr Cox will be in this studio this week. He's one of the artists in the 2023 Art in City Hall exhibit. Tune in to WXOX 97.01/Artxfm.com each Thursday at 10 am to hear ArtistsTalk with LVA.

Cox is a Louisville native who has been creating art as far back as he can remember. He holds a degree in Commercial Art and is currently a web / UI developer by day.
