Open Doors Self-Portraits Inspired by Chuck Close Keith Waits · March 22, 2018 Open Doors instructor Katy showed high school students at JCPS Uspiritus-Brooklawn School various examples of Chuck Close’s paintings from his career. They had learned how to mix colors and different ways to use their brushes. They drew self-portraits, as they saw themselves, and were to make grids of approximately two-inch squares. They applied bright colors of their choice and utilized said technical skills they have learned. They used acrylic paint and graphite on 22x30 inch paper. They were allowed freedom to deviate if they chose.Special thanks to Fund for the Arts' Arts for Kosair Kids® for their generous support of this project!
