Louisville Hivemind Artist Collective presents TO BATTLE: A Fight Play by José Pérez IV

JOSÉ PÉREZ IV is the Resident Fight & Intimacy Director of Pittsburgh Public Theater. He has been writing and directing his fight theatre plays since 2010. Recent credits at Pittsburgh Public (BILLY STRAYHORN, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM IN HARLEM, ROBIN HOOD), Actors Theatre of Louisville (DRACULA), Cleveland Play House (FRANKENSTEIN), Vermont Stages (BREAKFALLS). DARA JADE TILLER (she/her, Actor/Co-Producer) has  worked in professional theatre and film in Chicago, New York and across the United States. She has been seen in numerous commercials, both regionally and nationally, and has many stage, film, and television credits. Recently, she played Jamie Bell's wife in the award-winning film, Donnybrook and can be seen in Midway to Love now playing on The Hallmark Channel. She was most recently seen in Dracula: a Feminist Revenge Fantasy by Kate Hamill at Actors Theatre of Louisville. She has also worked extensively on the other side of the camera and stage in production and casting. She served as Managing Director of Woodford Theatre in Versailles, Ky and on the Board of Directors of Theatre 502. She is a part-time Theatre Instructor at the University of Louisville and offers private coaching and workshops for all ages and experience levels. Read more at darajadetiller.com

Artists Talk with LVA: December 28, 2023

Kentucky Shakespeare opens Kate Hamill's adaptation of Sense & Sensibility on January 6 and director Amy Attaway was live in the studio this week to tell us all about it. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM/Artxfm.com each Thursday at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

Amy Attaway has been the Associate Artistic Director of Kentucky Shakespeare since 2016, after several summers directing with the company. She also serves as director/facilitator of Kentucky Shakespeare’s Shakespeare with Veterans.

Before that Amy was a Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director for 10 years of Theatre [502], a Louisville company dedicated to recent and relevant theatre, and she spent five seasons as Associate Director of the Apprentice/Intern Company at Actors Theatre of Louisville.

Amy is a graduate of the University of Evansville and lives in Louisville with her fantastic husband and daughter and a growing menagerie of rescued pets.

Artists talk with LVA: December 21,2023

Clarity Hagan is a writer, director, actor, and generous spirit in the Louisville theatre community. She was live in the studio this week to talk about all of the many projects she is involved in. Tune in to WXOX 97.1/Artxfm.com each Thursday at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

In Louisville, Clarity Hagan has worked as a stage manager with Kentucky Shakespeare, a playwright with the Derby City Playwrights, a company member with Looking for Lilith, and as an educator with Drama by George, the Louisville Nature Center, Looking for Lilith Theater Company, and Actors Theatre of Louisville. Their play The Moth and the Masked Man was independently produced in November 2022. They are one of the founding members of three witches shakespeare, a queer, feminist theatre company focused on innovative classical theatre,  and adapted and directed their spring 2023 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

J. Barrett Cooper is an Actor, Director, Fight Director, Dialect & Acting Coach, Former Prod. Dir.-Savage Rose Theatre Co. he has worked with Kentucky Shakespeare, Bunbury Theatre, CenterStage at the Trager JCC, Constellation Stage & Screen in Bloomington, IN, and recently appeared in the feature film White Noise, directed by Noah Baumbach. Currently, he is directing The Weir for Bunbury Theatre, which opens tomorrow and runs through October 28.

Ton’nea Green, a recent recipient of a Black Artists Fund grant, is a talented portrait artist. With this grant, Ton’nea aims to create beautiful paintings that reflect the lived experiences of children during this global pandemic. As a mother, Ton’nea wants this project to capture the complicated emotional experiences that many children have had to go through during this difficult time. Ton’nea will be participating In Open Studio Louisville this Saturday, October 14 at Mellwood Art Center.

Victor Sweatt is a Louisville-based, self-taught painter and muralist. Sweatt was born in Louisville. He has shown his work in both group and solo exhibitions and appears in public and private collections throughout the United States. Sweat is a signature member of Louisville Visual Art, the Kentucky Artist Pastel Society, and the Kentucky Watercolor Society. Victor is participating in Open Studio Louisville at the LVA Studios on October 14 & 21

Artists Talk with LVA: June 29, 2023

The show gets a 2nd hour this week so we are filling it with Juergen Tossmann, Patrick Tovatt, andSteve Woodring. One-Off Productions in partnership with Bunbury Theatre is mounting the world premiere of Patrick's new play, Helper, in Louisville June 30, 2023

Patrick Tovatt is an American actor and playwright. He is perhaps best known for his roles on several soap operas, He attended Harvard University and laterstudied playwriting at Antioch College where he studied playwriting. Tovatt was a member of the original company of the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He appeared for 14 seasons at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. He was also a founding director of the Virginia Stage Company in Norfolk, Virginia. Tovatt has retired to Grants Pass, Oregon.

Steve Woodring worked his life in the theatre as a designer and director and was for many years the technical director of the Kentucky Center in Louisville. He has directed several plays for Bunbury Theatre including Buried Child, Rabbit Hole, Red, and Patrick Tovatt’s Boatwright.

Juergen Tossmann was the Producing Artistic Director at Bunbury Theatre Company sfor 30 odd years, having produced over 200 shows. He is also a writer, director, actor, and musician. He has written over 20 plays for the company and writes short stories and poetry as well. He retired in 2022.
