Artists Talk with LVA: August 28, 2025

Director Alyssa Hendricks and producer Michelle Lori from The Chamber Theatre discuss their production of The Harlan Women on Artists Talk with LVA on WXOX 97.1 FM at 10 a.m.

Michelle Lori is a Theatre professional engaged in acting, directing, playwriting and arts administration for The Chamber Theatre, Inc. a Kentucky nonprofit theatre since 2016. She also works as a theatre professional with other area community and semi-professional theatres. Her past professional experience includes Actors Theatre of Louisville and Presbyterian Church USA.

Alysa Hendricks is a Training, Development, and Quality Manager at Generation Tux, but also once taught theatre in the Oldham County Schools and has been very active with local theatre companies in this area. She attended Arizona State University and the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts

The Harlan Women will be performed at Jeffersonville's NoCo Arts & Cultural District in Jeffersonville on September 4, 5, and 6 and at the green space outside Louisville Visual Art on September 11, 12, and 13. All shows begin at 7 p.m. Get tickets at thechambertheatre.org

Imuzi Ryzoncity Thompson is a self-taught artist who was born in Manchester, Jamaica but is now based in Louisville KY. His exhibit, Birth Of An American Beast, is now on view at The Common Gallery at the 1512 Creative Compound.

Autumn McKay Lindsey is a ceramic artist whose newest exhibit, Return to the Beaten Path,is now on view at The Common Gallery at the 1512 Creative Compound.

Artists Talk with LVA: November 25, 2022

Squallis Puppeteers celebrates its 25th anniversary and Nora Christensen & Shawn Hennessey talk about that history with us. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM/Artxfm.com Thursdays at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA.

Squallis Puppeteers has existed for twenty-five years and has always been dedicated to handmade and homespun. We have been making puppets, performing, and teaching children (and adults) in Louisville, Kentucky since 1997.

In 2003, Squallis Puppeteers Inc. became a nonprofit 501c-3 organization.

Our mission is to use the art of puppetry to free imaginations, create fantastic characters, and tell the stories that are important to our community.

Squallis is recognized as a positive and important part of the Louisville community, telling stories that challenge viewers to think, while reflecting values of citizenship, empathy, and collaboration.

Squallis has two full-time staff, Nora Christensen and Shawn Hennessey, who conduct most of the educational programs and two-person performances.

Artists Talk With LVA: October 6, 2022

This week Matt Weir from Falls Art Foundry and David & Terri Sierra talk about participating in the 2022 Open Studio Louisville. Tune in to WXOX 97.1 FM/Artxfm.com Thursdays at 10 am to hear Artists Talk with LVA. Falls Art Foundry is Oct. 15 and the Sierras are both Oct. 15 & 22.

Matt Weir is a contemporary sculptor and artist known for his monumental works in stone, bronze, and mixed media. He graduated Cum Laude with a BFA from the University of Louisville Hite Art Institute with minors in Humanities and Art History in 2004. Throughout his time in school, he was busily apprenticing with a diverse set of professional artists, studios, and a bronze art foundry. Matt’s time associated with Bright Foundry lasted for approximately 15 years. In 2016 Bright Foundry closed permanently and he co-organized a team to succeed it as Falls Art Foundry, located in the Portland neighborhood as an essential resource to support the legacy of sculptural materials, methods, and education.

Matt Weir works in Louisville, Kentucky, where he grew up and has maintained a studio for the past 14 years. 

Creative Eyedias is an artist collaboration with art studios and an art gallery owned by Terri and David Sierra. Terri Sierra is a painter and photographer who founded Creative Eyedias in 2019, David is a painter.

Creative Eyedias is an encouraging and supportive space that would be owned by artists and run by artists, where artists are encouraged to create and art lovers can find art they love. It is located in Westport, Kentucky just a few miles upriver from Louisville..

Andrew Cenci is a photographic artist based in Louisville, KY. He uses photography to focus on the beauty of the every day through portraits, contemporary landscapes, and candid images. A self-taught photographer, working with traditional practices in order to create bodies of work with poetic sensibility. His photos highlight the beauty, joy, loneliness, and longing of the realities of everyday life. 

A Walk in the Park is available for viewing September 30 through November 7 with an Artist Talk on Saturday, October 9.

Scotty Perry is also a Louisville-based photographer and educator, He is a recipient of a Great Meadows Foundation, Artist Professional Development Grant, and has published the Here Book.

His exhibit, Here, is at fifteen TWELVE now through September 28.
