Robert Barry Fleming has served as Associate Artistic Director at Cleveland Play House since 2016. Previously he served as the Director of Artistic Programming at Arena Stage; world premieres he commissioned, developed and championed during this tenure include the 2017 Best Musical Tony Award winner Dear Evan Hansen, Mary Kathryn Nagle’s Sovereignty, John Strand’s The Originalist, Katori Hall’s Blood Quilt, Karen Zacarías’ Destiny Of Desire and the 2017 Pulitzer Prize winner Sweat, by Lynn Nottage. Fleming was an Associate Producer for the Off-Broadway premiere of The Two-Character Play by Tennessee Williams, starring Amanda Plummer and Brad Dourif. He was also an Associate Professor (tenured) and Chair of the University of San Diego Theatre Arts and Performance Studies Department.

Abbie Springer competed with the nationally ranked University of Louisville cheerleading squad and in 2009, she began her circus arts training. Abbie has appeared with her family in the annual Turners Circus spring production since 2009 and she has performed in CirqueLouis’ previous productions of at Iroquois Amphitheatre and Kentucky Center. Abbie is also a part of CirqueLouis’ event performance troupe appearing at prestigious venues all over the city

Myranda Thomas is a recent graduate from the University of Kentucky, where she earned two degrees in theatre and elementary education. She currently works at StageOne Family Theatre as an education associate as well as at Acting Against Cancer as a teaching artist for their after school children’s program and was recently the Leading Player in their production of Pippin.

Jordan Clark, born in Louisville, Kentucky. He has been performing with CirqueLouis for several years and has directed their recent productions Gravity’s Varieties and Happy Birthday!  After training on his own in high school, Jordan began his formal circus training in 2006 at the National Circus School of Montreal’s summer program. He was later accepted into the school’s prestigious college program where he completed his training in 2012. Jordan has performed his hand-balancing act in over 20 counties as well as at sea.

Eli Keel is a playwright, actor, and journalist. Eli is also a non-binary queer who is bi-polar. They are a member of the 2019 cohort of the Hadley Creatives, Co-founder of Louisville Fringe Festival, and have had work produced by Theatre 502Looking for Lilith Theatre CompanyDerby City PlaywrightsSpalding UniversityPPINK, 1619 Flux: Art + Activism, and Suspend the Moment Productions LLC. They won the Arts-Louisville.com award for best new play, the Theatre [502] Produced Nobody Bunny in the Golden Age of Animation.

Josh Carroll has been a professional theatre maker for over 15 years. As an Actor, Director, Playwright, and Administrator, Josh has worked across the country, most recently at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival and Kentucky Opera. He has worked with American Theatre Company, Piven Theatre Workshop, Metropolis Performing Arts, First Folio Theatre, the Bloomington Playwrights Project, and Alicja w Krainie Czarów with Theatre Polonia. He is one half of the reigning, defending, Louisville Championship Arm Wrestling Terrific Twosome Champions.

 Darian Doom-DeVoto is a theatre artists who studied music theatre at Western Kentucky University and is working as a Stage Manager for the 2019 Louisville Fringe Festival

Rosalie Rosenthal, attended Hite Art Institute, University of Louisville, Louisville, KY, and studied History, Smith College, Northampton, MA, she has exhibited at Purdue Polytechnic, New Albany, IN, Huff Gallery, Spalding University, Quappi Projects Louisville, KY, Manifest Gallery, Cincinnati, OH, NYC4PA, New York, NY, and The Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana, Evansville, IN.

Aaron Lubrick, was born in Baytown, Texas in May of 1982 and raised in Louisville, KY in his formative years. Lubrick found a love for painting and drawing in high school and pursued his art studies at the Columbus College of Art and Design. From there he attended graduate school at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Shortly after graduating he began teaching and showing art professionally. Lubrick lives in Louisville, Kentucky and teaches at Spalding University. 

Megan Kociscak is an Adjunct Instructor at Ivy Tech Community College and has also taught at the University of Louisville and Pensacola State College. She holds a Graduate Certificate for Womens'​ & Gender Studies in addition to MA and BFA from the University of Louisville and College of Visual Arts.

J. Ariadne Calvano is an Assistant Professor of Acting and Movement at the University of Louisville, and as a freelance movement director and performer. She earned her PhD and MA in Theatre from the University of Colorado Boulder; and additionally, holds a BA in Fine & Performing Arts from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and a BA in History from the University of Maryland. Earlier this year she directed Theatre [502]’s production of Women Laughing Alone with Salad by Shelia Callaghan.

Dr. Janna Segal teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Louisville in: theatre history, literature, and theory; Shakespeare and Shakespearean adaptation; American feminist theatre; and dramaturgy. Dr. Segal is also a freelance dramaturg whose past production work includes Shakespeare, Shakespearean adaptation, contemporary theatre, and new plays in development. She is the Resident Dramaturg of the Comparative Drama Conference, for which she dramaturgs two to three new plays a year, and a dramaturg for ATHE’s annual New Play Development Workshop. At UofL, she has dramaturged Baltimore,Eurydice, and The Master and Margarita, and The Taming of the Shrew. She has also worked locally as a guest dramaturg for Commonwealth Theatre Center. Dr. Segal is a member of Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA), and she serves on the Board of the Comparative Drama Conference.

Mia Hanson Studied film theory and photography in San Francisco’s Bay Area before leaving to pursue a photographic mentorship with influential photographer/ videographer Matt Mahurin in NYC in the 90’s.She has lived in Stockholm but returned to the states with her partner, painter Hawk Alfredson to live for several years in the fabled Chelsea Hotel in NYC. While in residence there she, “Created portraits utilizing the light and charged energy of the hotel atmosphere while careful not to disturb or “document “ what is not entirely capable of being captured. The ghosts are best left alone.”

Rachid Tagoulla is teaching assistant at University of Louisville pursuing his MFA. He attended Ibn Zohr University - Agadir, Morocco, where he was born. He studied Leadership Skills for Teachers- Pilgrims' course at University of Kent. His exhibit at U of L/Hite combines images from University of Louisville students and Moroccan photographers from time spent together in Agadir, Morocco in Spring 2019.

Ash Braunecker is from Tell City, Indiana. She who earned her BFA from Syracuse University with a concentration in public and landscape art (sculpture major; metalsmithing and jewelry minor) and University of Louisville…and has worked at Portland Museum for a few years, where she was just named Co-Director with Danny Seim.

Paul Paletti is a Louisville, KY native. He attended Middlebury College for 3 years before transferring to the University of New Mexico where he studied with Beaumont Newhall, Van Deren Coke, and Ray Metzker and received a BFA in photography. Paletti earned a MA in photography at Central Washington University in 1975 and his JD at the University of Louisville in 1987. He has been a partner in the law firm of Sturm, Paletti, and Wilson since 1994.

 


The eleventh Louisville Photo Biennial takes place September 20, 2019 through November 10, 2019 throughout Louisville Metro and its surrounding communities. Our photography exhibitions – spanning traditional to contemporary, local to global – are mounted at museums, galleries, universities, and cultural institutions. The Biennial also presents accompanying workshops, public lectures and panel discussions to stimulate learning and reinforce visual literacy. Since photography is the most widespread art form, our goal is to educate via meaningful dialogue to help bridge understanding in our diverse world through this dynamic medium.

Eric King is the new Director of Communications and Engagement for the Louisville Fund for the Arts. King previously served as a Senior Strategist for C2 Strategic Communications, a News Anchor and Special Projects Reporter with WLKY-TV, Louisville’s CBS affiliate, and is currently a Board Member of the Bardstown Foundation for Excellence in Public Education, as a reporter, he earned three Emmy awards for reporting and an Edward R. Murrow award for documentary production.

Braylyn Resko Stewart Born in Youngstown Ohio but grew up all over the world. His Army veteran father was stationed in Germany when the Berlin Wall came down, which was a formative experience. He attended DuPont Manual High School and has remained in Louisville. Braylyn is a tattoo and mural artist whose work has been featured at The Speed Museum and at various other public events and locations around Louisville.

Ashley Cathey is a Louisville native whose paintings have brought her to prominence in a fairly short time after moving back to Louisville from Chicago. When she returned, she quickly found her footing and exhibited work in a group show at the Louisville Community Center, one of the Metro Parks community centers overseen by Portia White. From there, Cathey caught the attention of ArtsReach’s Julia Youngblood, who commissioned Cathey to create a series of portraits, which ArtsReach used for posters for their annual Keepers of the Dream celebration at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.

Katy Delahanty is a graduate of Cooper Union with a strong background in art, teaching and mediation. She is the Outreach Director and head of the Mural Art Program (MAP) for Louisville Visual Art and a member of the board of directors for the Portland Museum.
